Money Magazine
and Salary.com recently ranked careers according to market demand,
pay, stress levels, and other factors. Here is a list of the top
five business careers, and what it takes to break into each profession.
1. Software
Engineer
Because computer programs are used in practically every industry,
the job market for software engineers is huge. At the high end of
the pay scale, software engineers can earn well into the six figure
category. At the entry level, most companies require a bachelor's
degree in computer science or a related field.
2. Financial
Advisor
Financial advisors, once they have enough clients, can earn a lot
of money without having to work ridiculous hours. Most financial
advisor jobs require a bachelor's degree in business or a related
field, but in order to sell certain products, they often need to
take professional certification examinations.
3. Human
Resources Manager
Human resources managers are becoming increasingly more important
to a company's bottom line, because they are responsible for managing
employee programs that minimize corporate costs. Most human resource
jobs only require a bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
4. Market
Research Analyst
A market research analyst tries to understand how a certain product
will sell within a target customer group. Most market research companies
or consulting firms that hire market research analysts look for
applicants who have at least a bachelors in business or another
related field. At more advanced levels, market research analysts
can easily make six figures.
5. Computer
IT Analyst
The demand for entry level computer IT analysts is extremely high,
and potential jobs include help desk technician, manager of information
systems, and webmaster. The entry level salary for an IT technician
is around $60K. Most employers like to see a degree in computer
science from applicants, but some only require certain software
certifications.
